"Carr launches get-fit agenda"
Students at Westfields Sports High School were present last Thursday when Premier Bob Carr announced that all NSW high school students would spend extra time doing physical activity.
Mt Carr said students would spend extra time each week playing sport and related activities to prevent childhood obesity.
Students from Years 7 to 10 would have extra time allocated under the physical education curriculum from 2005.
"As part of the new curriculum, for the first time ever, as much time will now be spent concentrating on physical activity as on theory," Mr Carr said.
"We want students to spend more time running around grounds and playing sport rather than sitting in class.
