Peta Sinclair (above) returned to Westfields Sports from her scholarship position at
Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Peta was a member of the Westfields basketball
program and last week visited the year 7 assembly to talk with student about the pathways to
success in studies and sport. Peta was welcomed by Jamal Abdi (r) and Marco Scardinale.
(Right) Westfields welcomed Connie Francis, the former Jamaican netball captain last week. Connie
attended Westfields with Chris Irwin who is the Junior Development Officer for Netball NSW.
Westfields coaches - Jo MacDermid and Margaret Corbett joined Connie in some skills coaching
sessions for members of the Westfields elite netball program. Ms Francis was most impressed by
the netball squads and indeed the program, which offered opportunities to girls that were only
dreamed of in Jamaica.
Dan Suchy -- Tom Jones and Laurie from Liverpool RSL (aka John Edmondon Memorial Club) attended a
special assembly on 26th May to present a $4000 cheque to support athletics programs at Westfields
Sports. The club has a strong relationship with Westfields, in particular, the athletics programs.
Dan Suchy, Director of the Athletics and Naomi Bligh, (who will be representing Australia at
World Juniors in Italy this year) were in attendance when the cheque was presented to Mr Tucker.
