Year 12 Geography Great Barrier Reef Excursion
During the last week of Term 1, 10 Geography students embarked on an action packed holiday (sorry, excursion) to the Great Barrier Reef, Qld. This excursion was to enhance our study of Ecosystems at Risk.
Mr Clements organised this trip and Miss Gibbs volunteered to accompany our group.
Education was provided by the island tour-guides, marine biologists and researchers.
Our activities also included reef walking, turtle hatching, fish feeding, learning the history of the island and playing sports. We were not allowed to go fishing of course, as the estimated 1000 species of coral and fish are protected.
This was a fantastic way to gain practical knowledge of our topic. The excursion was quite affordable as Mr Clements helped us organise fundraising barbecues. Thanks to all those who purchased our gourmet burgers! Also, thankyou to Mr Clements and Miss Gibbs and the school for allowing this trip to happen!
