JOVEN CLARKE
WESTFIELDS SPORTS HIGH SCHOOL

Joven Clarke of Westfields Sports High School has made a memorable impression on the New South Wales Combined High Schools Sports Association. Outstanding performances on the Athletics track and the Rugby League field have identified him as a most highly talented all round sportsman.

In 1998, Joven represented CHS in the 15 years Rugby League team that played in the Australian Schoolboys Championships. His excellent performances at these championships saw him selected in the Australian Schoolboys 15 years merit team.

In 2000, Joven was selected for the CHS Open Rugby League team after demonstrating great form at the state trials, where he was adjudged the "Most Valuable Player". Playing at the Australian Championships, Joven's electric speed saw him selected in the Australian Schoolboys team, this time at the Open level.

Not only has Joven excelled at Rugby League but his performances as a track athlete are also outstanding. Representing Sydney South West Area, he has competed for the past three years at the CHS Athletics Championships, where he has won numerous state titles.

This year, representing New South Wales at the Pacific School Games, his sensational performance in the 100 metres sprint saw him acknowleged as the fastest 18 year old sprinter in Australia this year.

Joven is a dedicated, motivated athlete who displays a maturity and skill level well beyond his years, and he is the outstanding recipient of the Val Lembit Trophy for 2000.
