Looking for the perfect take-off

Kurt Jenner is hoping a blistering run-up and a big take-off will help him leapover his rivals at the
World Youth Games in Italy.
The 15-year-old, who won the 2008
Fairfield Advance Junior Sports Star Award, will represent Australia in the under-18 long jump at
the July championships.
The year 10
Westfields Sports High School student believes he is a strong contender for a medal in what will be his first overseas
competition in Australian colours.
"The represent Australia is a dream and taking on other athletes from around the world will be a good experience," Kurt said.
"I've been looking at previous years and how for people have jumped and I should make the top eight and I'll try and get a medal."
Kurt recently returned from am athletics Australia training camp with the Australian under-17 development squad at the
Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. He said the camp was an eye opening insight into the life of a professional athlete.
"We got to use all the facilities for training and doing recovery sessions," he said.
"We did seminars on where we areb going in the future, how to act as an athlete overseas and looking after your body."

World School Games in December, believes the key to success in Italy will be a strong run-up and leap off the long-jump mat.
"I need a lot of speed and I need to get a good position on my take-off," he said.
