The student athletes at celebrated their achievements of 2005-06 at the school's annoul athletics club annual club
presentation night held at St Johns Park Bowling Club recently.
Three of the school's four Commonwealth Games athletes, who had just returned from the 2006 Melbourne Games, were a highlight
of the evening.
They were Dani Samuels, who won bronze medal in discus, John Thornell who came fifth in long jump,
Karyne Di Marco who acheived fourth in hammer throw.
Long jump bronze medallist Fabrice Lapierre, now in the US, was represented by his parents, Maurice and Lilette.
Another special guest on the night was Australia's greatest ever male thrower, Justin Anlezark.
Justin, the 2002 Commonwealth shot put champion, announced the male and female athletes of the year- Fabrice Lapierre and Dani Samuels.

Samuels is currently studying at Westfields and Fabrice, now at the A & M University in Texas, was from the class of 2001.
The other big award was the announcememt of the Adhemar Ferreira da Silva Scholarship.
The Biazilian consul-general presented the award to student Matthew Outzen, Australia's leading Junior javelin thrower.

He won $1000 and an all expenses-paid trip to Brazil with coach Roger Green for the senior Championships in September.
The junior athletes of the year awards went to Dale Jenner and Christie Chamberlain, both of year 10at Westfields Sports.
Jenner is the No.1 ranked under 18s long jumper in the world and Chamberlain is Australia's No.2 junior discus thrower. Both

were selected for the Australian team in the World Schools Games in Greece in July.
