Venue: Bridgecoast Basketball Stadium Terrigal
Summary of matches by coach Bernie Slattery:
“The tournament structure has been changed now so that the top 8 teams are put into 2 pools of 4.
On the first day a round robin is played (3 games each). Then on the second day crossovers semis and a grand final
are played.
The boys won all three games on the first day and beat Castle Hill S.S in the semi and defeated Illawarra Sports in a
great O/T games in the final.
Jason Cadee was most valuable player of the final.
The game was very high quality and one of the greatest contests in the tournament in many years. Seniors Ben Urwin,
Greg Chaplin and Blake McGrath all had very good games.
The girls won 2 of their 3 games on the opening day qualifying for the semi final.
The following morning they played Cherrybrook Technology H.S in the semi and after establishing a handy lead, were
unable to finish the game off.
In the bronze medal play off, the girls showed great spirit to defeat Endeavour Sports H.S in a reversal of the game
they lost on the previous day.
Our young girls are to be congratulated on a great job playing against considerably older opposition. Casey Samuels,
Jordan Gracia and Sadie Nai were among our best.”
