Dancers come out of the shadows and get physical
By ANGELINA DRACA
Who Says physical lessons at Westfields Sports High School means football, basketball or swimming?
Dancers Tim Maranik, Jenna Cullen and Jay Gillan are quickly making a name for themselves at state level.
Tim and Jay, both 15, have been selected for the NSW boys ensemble.
Tim will do contempory dane, which is a jazz and ballet combination.
He told the Champion what he reckons dancers need to do to be noticed.
"For a boy, he needs to show up," Tim said. "For a girl, it is to be the best dancer."
Jay said: "I like on stage performance." I like musical theatre. When I dance, it makes me feel free. When I am doing dance, it feels like nothing else."
