NOT every 10-year-old has the chance to represent NSW in their chosen sport - but Laura
Martino isn't your average 10-year-old.
Thats why she's this week's Fairfield Advance Junior Sports Star.
Martino has been a gymnsat since she was introduced to the sport at just five years of age.
Now a seasoned veteran, she is set to represent NSW at the Australian national championships
later this month.
A member of the gymnastics program at Westfields Sports High School and an international

gymnast, Martino has had a series of strong results lately.
In February she scored first place in the vault,
third on bars and beam and fifth on floor at the state champ- ionships trial.
Martino backed up those results with another first in vault, a second in beam

and another third in bars at the second round of trials in March.
She then went one step better at the state championships with a first in vault and bars, a second
in floor and a third in beam.
Young sports people aged 10 to 16 are eligible to enter the Cunberland Newspapers' Junior Sports Star Awards.
