Meet Our Athletes------------------------------National Champion
- Semple, Jones, Robert Marks, Robert Boateng-

Under 16 4 X 100m relay

The make-up of this team changed at various stages throughout the season, with injuries and fitness, at times including other athletes such as Nunu Campos and Isaac Simon. They were a very competitive outfit throughout the season. Their fastest time, with the combination of Jones, Campos, Simon and Marks was recorded at the 2001 NSW Relay Championships, where they ran 44.61 in the heat, eventually winning in 45.07 after a few shaky changes.

The School and club record is held by Stickler, Thornell, Simon and Boateng at 44.03 seconds, however we believe they have run the third fastest time ever by a Westfields under 16 team.

In the 4 X 200m relay the combination of Boateng, Marks, Simon and Jessie Hall, the team smashed the Westfields Record held by Warburton, Lapierre, Abou-Mahmoud and Clarke, previously set at 1.34.15. Their time at last years State Relays was 1.33.92.

Australian All Schools Champions Under 16 Meet. record: 4 X 100m 44.03s.

This incredibly talented group of four athletes absolutely devastated their opposition at the 2000 Australian All Schools Championships held in Adelaide in December of last year.

It is not often any school is capable of assembling four under 16 male runners all of whom have 100m times of well under 12 seconds. In this case the fastest individual had a P.B. of 11.09 and the slowest had a P.B. of 11.6 (hand timing). Essentially, Paul, John, Isaac and Robert were hurdler, long jumper, high jumper and sprinter respectively.

Their winning time of 44.03 seconds was the fastest time ever recorded by a school under 16 relay team and Robert was exceptionally young at only 13 years of age. It became a New Australian All Schools meet record.

The race itself was a sight to see, with Paul giving the team a five metre lead at the first change, and each consecutive runner also increasing their lead by at least five metres, with the winning margin about 30 metres to the nearest school.

Paul and John move into the senior ranks during 2001 and only Robert and Isaac will remaining as Juniors; leaving the vacant 2 spots very hotly contested this year.
