Five from Westfields in state side By Lema Samandar Five players from Westfields Sports High School have been named in the NSW Combined High Schools netball team to contest the Australian School-girls Championships at the Waverley Netball Centre in Melbourne from August 6 to 14. Head of the school’s netball program, Joanne Macdermid, said this is the most number of girls chosen from the school in a combined team. “It shows that our program is working and it will be magnificent to see the girls compete in such a tough competition,” Ms Macdermid said. Jessica Holz, Chanel Stanley, Alex Mecham, Amy Wild and Kimberley Borger will represent NSW Combined High Schools and play against combined Catholic and Independent Schools in the challenge. Although most of the girls have previously competed in the challenge, it’s Jessica Holz’s first time. “I was excited and a bit relieved to be chosen and I look forward to playing,” she said. ![]() Wednesday 2nd August 2006 |
