KRISTIANA Manu'a, the 183cm-tall Greenfield Park resident, could be another Mo'onia Gerrard in the making.
Gerrard is one of the top players in Australian Diamonds national team. She is regarded by many in the sport as one of the best goal defence players,
the same position Kristiana plays.
Kristiana, 15, attends Westfields Sports High School.
The rising talent has played for six different teams at a state and national level.
"I love the physical aspect[of netball] and playing with friends" she said.
"Since I was nine I have been playing netball and I love it."
The Australian under 16s vice-captain travelled to New Zealand to compete in the international under 16s championships in May and for the first time
in four years the team brought home the title.
"The New Zealand team were really
intimidating as they were older than me," Kristina said.
She said it was her biggest personal netball achievement yet.
The Australian team fought it out hard in the last quarter, winning by 12 goals against the star-studded Kiwis.
Kristiana has also played for the NSW CHS state and NSW under-17s teams.
The teenager has now been invited to train with several Australian National League teams now playing in the competition one tier below the ANZ Bank
Kristiana has also been selected for the NSW Institute of Sport team which travels to Melbourne on Friday, September 30, to play at the State Institute and State Academies Netball
Kristiana said it was tough training five days a week but she loves the game and was prepared to work hard to achieve her goals.
"One day I hope to play for the national team, the Australian Diamonds," she said.
