Aim
In October 1991, the Westfields Sports Rowing Club was established. Since then the Club has
developed to become a competitive force within NSW School Rowing. The school provides new
rowers with the knowledge and on-water training for students to reach a high standard.
Courses Offered
The sport of rowing is open to students in Years 7-12. Students taking up rowing will be
selected by a Talent Identification Program. All students must be able to swim and participate
in a First Aid Course.
Course Structure
The squad trains at Lansvale two mornings a week, and they participate in a weight training and
conditioning program. In addition the seniors train at Lansvale on two afternoons per week
Course Schedule
The Club competes in regattas most weekends during the Rowing Season (October - March) and to a
lesser extent during the off season (May-July). The regatta courses are spread throughout the
metropolitan area, which include Iron Cove (Haberfield/ Leichhardt/ Drummoyne), Parramatta
River (Abbostford/Canada Bay), Lane Cove River (Greenwich / Hunters Hill), the Nepean River
(Penrith) and the Sydney International Rowing Course. The highlights of the season are the
NSWCHSSA Rowing Championships in March and the Pan Pacific All Schools Regatta in April where
rowers will be competing from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and England.
