CHRIS Armit, the latest Parramatta junior to reach the top, hopes his budding first-grade career won't skip a beat this week after being cleared of serious injury.
In his home debut for the Eels against Brisbane Broncos last Friday, it was feared the 19-year-old suffered fracture cheekbone. But x-rays cleared him of the injury.
The interchange forward impressed against the renowned representative strength Broncos pack.
That came a week aftre he made a flying start to his NRL career scoring a try on debut against the West Tigers at Telstra Stadium.
Last season Armit captained the NSW under-19 team and played

for the Junior Kangaroos against Papua New Guinea, along with fellow Eel Willie Tonga.
From Baulkham Hills, Armit started playing at the age of eight with Hills District but, after a year, joined Wentworthville (for three years) and later Merrylands (five). He came through Parramatta's junior representative system and was also in the league program at Westfields Sports High School After the West Tigers game, coach Brian Smith said Armit was quite an athlete and "can run", pointing out he played centre in the junior
reps.
Armit played that down, saying it was only a brief change from his preferred roles of prop or second rower.
Smith also praised the way the rookie handled his debut - but it wasn't without butterflies.
"As soon as I got to the ground was when it really started to set in, just really getting nervious," Armit said. "During the week I was fine but game
day, getting to the ground, everything just changes."
Under the club's traineeship scheme, he is in his third year as a greenkeeper at Parramatta Stadium, working part time to fit in with training.
On the footy front, he comes off contract this year.
"Hopefully, if I can keep on performing, i'd like to sign again," he said.
