Sarah's Great Swim - 1500mtr
Australian Shortcourse Championships

Three cheers for Fairfield's own pool princess
---------------------------Story By Aaron Parnell
Meet the fifth fastest girl over 1500 metres - Fairfield's own Sarah Kallu.
At this month's national shortcourse swimming championships in Perth she recorded a personal best of 16:53.84s.
And what was good enough to take the Westfields Sports High School student to fifth place in the woman's open age 1500m freestyle.
The Horsley Park teenager last week told the Champion Ian Thorpe had given her a few extra poolside tips before the race.
"It was a really great experience to be among the best swimmers and find out what it is all about," she said.
"My next aim is to make the 2004 Olympics in Greece."
Coach Bruce Edmunds said her next best chance was the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
"Over the past four years Sarah has been one of several people at the Smithfield Swim Centre who are Olympic prospects," Edmunds said.
Proud mother Diane said as long as Sarah was having fun she would be behind her 100 per cent.

Great Effort... Local teenager Sarah Kallu put in a terific 1500m freestyle performance at the Australian shortcourse championships.
