MISSING selection to the recent Commonwealth Games team only seemed to fire up the talent of young local swimmer Sarah Kallu The 16-year-ols student from Westfields Sports High School has just won three gold medals in the 400m individual medley, 800m and 1500m freestyle and a silver medal for the 400m freestyle at the All Schools National Swimming Championships in Darwin. |
"I am happy [with the performance]," she said.
"I would like to get down to better times. In the 800m I would like to get to 8.50mins, long course." Sarah began swimming competitively at the age of 11 with Smithfield Swimming Association, and is coached by Bruce Edmonds. She is now looking forward to competing in the Youth Olympics in January 2003, which will be held in Sydney. |
