Wesolowski slowly rising
By Peter Theodosiou
Youngster James Wesolowski continues climbing up the English Football ranks despite suffering a few serious injuries that threatened to end his playing career.
Although he has come back from two broken legs, James Wesolowski has had a very productive tenure with Leicester City.
During last seasons campaign the 19-year-old made 14 first team starts, scoring one goal.
Former caretaker boss at Walkers Stadium, Rob Kelly, held huge admiration for the youngster who picked himself up brilliantly.
“He’s got a great mentality and attitude for a young player and can make a name for himself here.”
Leicester City skipper and Socceroos defender Patrick Kisnorbo was also impressed with Wesolowski’s progression especially after his second knee injury.
“I agree he is a player for the future and he is definitely one to look out for.
“He’s had a few tough times but Jimbo’s really risen to the occasion and you will hear a lot about him this season.”
The former Westfields Sports Football Program graduate and Northern Spirit player signed with the Foxes in 2002 after some impressive performances for the reserve team.
He made his first team debut in 2004 against Celtic, though broke his leg in the same game in an ugly challenge against Bobo Balde.
At the beginning of last season, the young Australian star replaced midfield playmaker Joey Gudjonsson who left the club.
Wesolowski’s tough tackling and powerful presence has won him admiration from many Football supporters especially the Leicester fans.
He has represented Australia at the youth level, though he still awaits his first Socceroo Cap.
His representation in the green and gold will certainly be a matter of time if he continues his great progression.
