Bill Turner Cup – 20/6/2008
V Cecil Hills Won 7-0
Football –
Venue: BRENAN PARK
WESTFIELDS Sports played quite well for the first 15 minutes applying good pressure and playing a fairly positive and
high tempo. We scored two goals through close finishing. Tomi Cirjak opened the scoring with a good pivot volley
from a Yianni Perkatis cutback. Alessandro Pecora tapped in a rebound from a long range shot minutes later.
For the next 15 minutes to half time, Cecil Hills defended very deep and with great desire. Westfields passing in tight
space was poor and we started to loft long balls into the edge of the penatly area, with no quality and no success.
At half time we talked about bringing the fullbacks more into the game to create 2 v 1's out wide. Also to be aware of
opportunities to counter attack before Cecil Hills could drop numbers back.
We scored 5 more goals in the second half. Fabian Sosa finished from a Yianni Perkatis cross. Next
Stjepan Paric scored a hat trick. First a penalty, then a free kick from 25 yards out and finally a snap pivot
volley from 10 yrds out. Our final goal came from another pivot volley, but this time Tommy Mijic from a corner.
We need to tighten up a couple of key aspects of our play. Taking greater care with basic passing and receiving habits
so we don't lose possession cheaply. Our finishing was good, but we must be more aware of different ways of creating
chances in the front 1/3.
We play again this week vs Robert Townsend HS of Raby (Campbelltown)
