Dominate Joeys Squad

Regarding to many as one of the finest sporting high schools from accross Australia, Sydney's Westfields Sports High was very pleased to have four students selected for the U17 Joey World Cup aquad that departed for Peru last week.

  Nathan Burns, Jason Trifiro, Wade Oostendorp and Scott Jamieson all made the school very proud afted youth coach Ange Postecoglou announced the 20-man squad.
Cklamovski was also chosen to tour with the Joeys to ensure that the players were physically prepared for the World Cup.

  The achievements didn't stop there for the school.
  Five students were selected in the Australian Schoolboys and Schoolgirls side that are set to tour the UK in January next year.

  Nathan Burns, Ben gough, Daniel Wilkinson, Jason Trifiro and Evam Berger were all named at the Schoolboys side while Frances Dimino got the shout with women's squad.
  Burns and Trifiro are both currently studying at the school, and with only a year left until the HSC, both boys were given this opportunity that was too good to refuse.
  Oostendorp was an ex student but was picked up this year by A-League glamour side Sydney FC abd has been the youngest recruit ever in the competition while Jamieson, another ex-pupil, has been busy in the U.K. with Premier

League outfit Bolton Wanderersin their junior ranks.
  A fifth student just missed out on the squad but included on the train-on list and that was Turkish-bound Tayfun Buyukkopru.
Based on their exceptional performances during the recent National Carnival held in sunny Cairns, the fellow players were rewarded with a trip to England where new avenues could possibly open up with

Westfields Principal Phil Tucker was delighted to have seen his school grab such plaudits with his students.

  "Westfields Sports has a long and proud tradition of significantly contributing to Australian football teams at youth and full international levels - for both men and women," Tucker told ABSW.

many scouts watching on from the stands.

  Names such as Mark Byrnes, Shane Cansdell-Sheriff, Bradley Groves, Jamie McMaster and Harry Kewell to name a few, all passed through Westfields ranks.

  More future stars are set to follow the pathways of their past heros as the school continues to build it's name as being one of the most competitive football sides in Australia.
