The girls tennis team competed in the NSW CHS Floris Conway Tennis Knockout Finals held in Ballina on the 29th and
30th of July.
The team consisted of Melissa Arthonsri (11), Karolina Kapetanovic (11), Genevie Ulanday (7) and
Tammy Srbinovski (7).
The girls first opponent was a focused and experienced Sydney Girls High. We were defeated 6 - 2 taking us into Round 1
of the consolation draw.
Our next opponent, Armidale struggled against our hard hitting girls which saw the Westfields team winning this match
6 - 2.
Our final match of day 1 was Grafton High. Our girls were on a winning streak and used this to our advantage winning the
match and putting us into the final round playing off for 5th place.
On day 2 we faced Dubbo High in the consolation final. We were unfortunate to lose this match.
The girls were matched fairly evenly with the Dubbo girls team but struggled to win games.
Our final placing was 6th amongst a pool of talented tennis players from all over NSW.
The girls came away gaining valuable experience in playing against some top ranked tennis players. Our year 7 players,
Genevie and Tammy held their own over the two days and played some great tennis against much older girls.
Well done!
Thanks to John Marks for his dedication to the tennis program and for the time and effort he has put into this
trip. The girls are really appreciative of his involvement.
