LOCAL tennis is making a big racket again, filling the gap left by the departure of Jelena Dokic.
Former Fairfield resident Dokic is now ranked No.7 in the world and plays for her native Yugoslavia.

Meanwhile, Westfields Sports High School student Anthony Tuong, 13, has slammed his way into
the Optus Team Tennis Australia young star tour.
He, too, is in western Europe for four weeks before heading to the Czech Republic for the finals of the
under-14s world tennis titles in mid August.
"I hope to enjoy the new experience, learning how to improve my game and become mentally stronger,"
Atelj said.
Jeflea added: "It will be a great learning curve to play on a clay court, as you don't get that
opportunity here in Australia."
De La Torre said going with her school mates would make the trip much easier.

future stars for the Davis and Federation Cups, said "I am very excited but I'm
going to be a little bit homesick being away from my family and don't know what to expect of
my opponents from overseas.
"I enjoy tennis for the competition and meeting new people and the fact that it is a worldwide
game."
Jeflea won the men's singles at the Club Marconi open championships.
Sean Ross won the special men's singles and in the under-16s boys final Adrian Bartolo
defeated Michael Galluzzo 6-0 6-2. Ilya Jerdetski won the under-12s boys round robin.
