Volleyball player Samantha Skinner is a student at Westfields Sports

CANLEY Heights' Samantha Skinner is only 16 but already has an impressive list of sporting achievements to her name.
The Westfields Sports student has made a reputation for herself as an outstanding sportswoman, playing both valleyball and
hockey - it's volleyball that she has really excelled in.
She has been selected in the NSW combined high schools indoor volleyball teams since 2006.
Samantha has only been playing volleyball for three years and is justifiably the Fairfield Advance's Junior Sports
Star nominee for this week.
"My brothers inspired me to play, they bothed for the Australian School team," she said.
"I started off just with them in the back yard, 'I liked the intensity of the game, it's a lot of fun."
She was also selected to play for the under-17 state team at the national championships in 2007, was captain of the state
combined high school team in 2008 and this year has playedin the women's honours division at the Illawarrs state championships and the NSW under-19 state team.
As if that wasn't enough, in 2006 she also played in the second national under-17 junior beach volleyball team and last year represented the state in the under-19 national beach volleyball championships.
"My goal now is to make it into the Australian school team next year to play New Zealand," she said. "That's as far as you can go at the school level."
