From the Principal's Desk
It is a time of deadlines for many HSC students as major works are due in Visual Arts, Textiles, Music, Dance, Drama and Industrial Technology. It was great to see so many family members, students and staff visiting the reception area to see the excellent Textiles works on display. The Industrial Technology works will be on show this week so come and have a look. Thanks to the many teachers who have come in during the holidays and remained after school to further support our students with their projects.

Congratulations to the students who received Level I and II Awards as part of our special student welfare program. Effort, achievement and excellence are acknowledged and recognised. Level I recipients are
- Stacey Randell Year 11
- Amy-Lee Petereit Year 12
- Melisa Tomic Year 12
- Candace Foy-Moxey Year 12
- Emma Rankin Year 11

Congratulations to these excellent students and it was a pleasure to see so many parents sharing this special time.

Thanks to Ms Baker for organising the final Year 7 vaccinations – a very important initiative through the NSW Department of Health.

Nicole Quinn of Year 9 accepted a cheque for $1,000,000 from Federal Health Minister Tony Abbott on behalf of the Make a Wish Foundation. Nicole asked Ms Zanet to accompany her to the ceremony. Nicole and her family will visit Italy as part of her ‘wish’ (influenced by Language lessons in Year 7).

The principals of local primary schools Fairfield West and St Johns Park have visited Westfields Sports to further cement links. Mr Barrett our Head Teacher of Mathematics is engaged in planning with Fairfield West Public School to facilitate the entry of primary students into Mathematics at the secondary level.

Our thanks must go to Mr Symes for the excellent year, activity and sports photographs. They will enable the reliving of school memories in the years ahead. If all goes to plan the first edition of the Alumni Newsletter will be available this term. The Alumni Association will be an important means of connecting the present with our past and providing for an even brighter future.

Talking of the past it is pleasing to note that a recent graduate of Westfields Sports – Trang Pham – is offering to endow the school with an annual scholarship available to Year 11 or Year 12 students. More details soon.

Good luck to the many individuals and teams involved in finals activities:
Tafe Worldskills Regional Finals, football, hockey, netball, league, union, baseball, softball, ‘Scram’.
