Every school has a ‘fabric’ – a core of actions, attitudes, environment,   Hamilton Road
commitment, trust – the list goes on.  This ‘fabric’ represents the essence of any   Fairfield West NSW
school and is the reason for a successful school.  It would have been very easy to say   PH: 9604 3333
no to Mya To’s winning of the Today FM’s Avril Lavigne concert.  To say yes meant   Medical Centre 9604 3122
days of planning and asking people to do more – students and staff.  I was unsure   Gymnastics Hall 9604 3773
whether to give Mya a Merit Certificate or a detention.  Well we went ahead:   Sports Stadium 9604 9361
               - the numbers were limited by Avril’s management to 500   Fax: 9725 4898
               - the times were set and changed by Today FM and Avril’s management   EMAIL
               - Avril’s security, police and school were closely involved in planning   info@westfieldsports.nsw.edu.au

further $1000 to add to our already raised $1500 – a total of $2,500.00.
The tickets went on sale at 8.00am and were sold by 9.10am – leaving a long   Calendar
list of disappointed Avril fans. At 1.00pm, people started arriving:   8/09/2004
               - the Today FM broadcast crew   Puma Shield
               - the Black Thunder vehicles providing a free BBQ and drinks   Final
               - the road crew to set up the stage for the national broadcast   6.00pm
               - the police
               - Channel 9’s A Current Affair   Puma Cup
               - The Daily Telegraph   Final
The students enjoyed the BBQ and drinks and sang Avril’s songs for the TV   8.00pm
cameras. Avril was late and the students waited patiently. Well the function was
