Welcome
On behalf of the students and staff at Westfields Sports High School, welcome to our Internet Home Page.
The nature of education and the work place is changing rapidly, and the citizens of the future will be required to interact with technology as it becomes available. Staff and students at Westfields are meeting this challenge through learning new skills via technological advancements - many of which are made available through computers.

There has been much media coverage of late involving the 'Information Super-Highway'. Many of these reports have been sensationalised, generating a public perception that the internet is something to be avoided. However, the internet has established itself as a great educational resource. To stand and watch whilst others develop this technology and explore its educational implications will ultimately fail to give our graduating students the edge in a world demanding a highly skilled workforce.

The initial outlay of funds to purchase equipment was made through the foresight of the Westfields Parents & Citizens association. Students, under the supervision of library staff, are given unlimited access to the internet which enables them to access up-to-date information from a wide variety of sources.

Westfields has a proud tradition of sporting excellence. The internet is allowing staff and students to contact other sporting associations throughout the world via electronic mail. Currently, we are developing the concept of the 'Global classroom' through establishing electronic links with our sister school in Germany (Gymnasium Gruna) and other friends throughout the world.

We would appreciate your feedback and ideas as we explore this new educational medium further.
